Dr. Carla Ribeiro-Bachtell, DPM

Ribeiro Foot and Ankle CenterDr. Carla Ribeiro-Bachtell earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Temple University in Philadelphia following a dual Bachelor's of Science and Bachelor's of Art program at Providence College. Upon completion of podiatric medical school she completed an extensive podiatric foot and ankle surgical residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.
She served as chief resident during her third year of residency and also trained at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. where she received her fellowship in lower limb salvage and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Ribeiro-Bachtell is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Ribeiro-Bachtell was awarded honors as the female student achieving the highest scholastic average in her medical school class at Temple University. She was also elected a member of Phi Delta, the National Podiatry Honor Society that recognizes academic excellence. She is also a member of both the American Podiatric Medical Association and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
She enjoys treating patients of all ages with foot and ankle disorders including, but not limited to, sports-related injuries (i.e. ankle sprains), foot and ankle pain, diabetic foot infections requiring limb salvage and reconstructive surgery, wound care, and fracture care.
Dr. Ribeiro-Bachtell lives in Alexandria and is married with two children. She enjoys biking, hiking, tennis, and running and, of course, keeping up with her children. She is fluent in Portuguese and speaks conversational Spanish.
